Agalipa: The Hidden Cove of Skyros
Agalipa is a remote double cove on Skyros, backed by pines and reached on foot or by water taxi. What it's like, and how to get to one of the island's most beautiful hidden beaches.

Some of the loveliest places on Skyros are the hardest to reach, and Agalipa is the proof. A pair of coves in a pine-fringed bay, untamed and nearly empty, it rewards the small effort it takes to get there.
In short: Agalipa is a remote, beautiful cove (in fact two beaches) on the coast of Skyros, backed by pine trees and full of clear, quiet water. Reach it by a 30-minute forest walk from Agios Petros, or more easily by water taxi from Kyra Panagia or on a boat trip. Bring everything you need; it is completely undeveloped.
The cove
Agalipa is the kind of beach people mean when they talk about hidden gems. Two small beaches sit within one sheltered bay, ringed by pines that run almost to the water, the sea clear and calm, the quiet almost total. There are no facilities and few people, which is exactly the appeal: it feels untouched, a reward for the traveller willing to walk or take to the water.
Getting there
There are two ways in.
- On foot, a roughly 30-minute walk through pine forest from Agios Petros, a pretty approach for those who like a short hike to their swim.
- By water, a water taxi from Kyra Panagia in season, or as a stop on a wider boat trip around the coast, the easiest option.
Either way, treat it as a small expedition, as you would for Agios Fokas or the wild south.
Come prepared
- Bring water, food, shade and a mask; there is nothing here but the beach.
- Leave no trace; this is a fragile, untouched corner of the island.
- Go early or on a calm day for the best of the water and the light.
